ArmCare Arm Strength Testing
& Training with Dr. Chris

Most arm injuries don't come out of nowhere. Weak rotator cuff and shoulder muscles, poor range of motion and throwing on a tired arm all add stress to the shoulder and elbow, and that stress costs you velocity, command and time on the field.

At Optimal Health Chiropractic, Dr. Chris is a Certified ArmCare Specialist. He uses the ArmCare testing system to measure your arm strength, range of motion and fatigue with real numbers instead of guesswork. He then builds a plan to strengthen what's weak, protect your arm through the season and help you throw harder.

ArmCare sessions are available at our Broomfield office at 12995 Sheridan Blvd #101, Broomfield, CO 80020, or at our private training studio near W. 80th Ave and Simms St in Arvada. You'll receive the exact Arvada address when you book. Call or text 303-466-3988, or click the "Make an Appointment" button at the top of the page to book your ArmCare assessment.

What Is ArmCare?

ArmCare is an arm health testing, training and monitoring system for baseball and softball players. It's used by players in every MLB organization, hundreds of college and high school programs, and is the official arm testing partner of Perfect Game USA.

ArmCare uses a handheld strength sensor and app to test the muscles that protect your throwing arm, including shoulder internal and external rotation, scaption (the muscles that stabilize your shoulder blade) and grip strength. It also checks shoulder range of motion. Your results are combined into an Arm Score and compared against your throwing velocity, so you can see whether your arm is strong enough for how hard you throw.

Because testing only takes a few minutes, you can re-test throughout the season to track fatigue and recovery. That tells you when to push your training and when to back off, before a tired arm turns into an injury.

Why test with a chiropractor? Dr. Chris doesn't just read the numbers. He looks at how your shoulder, upper back, hips and core move, finds the physical limitations behind a low score, and can treat joint and muscle problems in the same visit.

ArmCare Services We Offer

  • ArmCare Arm Assessment: A full strength and range of motion test of both arms, including internal rotation, external rotation, scaption and grip strength, with your Arm Score and side-to-side comparison.

  • Strength & Velocity Review: We compare your arm strength to your throwing velocity to show whether your arm is under-built for how hard you throw, one of the biggest red flags for shoulder and elbow injuries.

  • Personalized Arm Care Program: A training program built from your test results to strengthen your rotator cuff, shoulder blade, forearm, core and hips, with guidance on throwing volume.

  • In-Season Fatigue Monitoring: Quick re-tests before and after outings to track recovery and help you and your coach decide when you're ready to throw.

  • Throwing Injury Care: Chiropractic care and return-to-throw guidance for shoulder pain, elbow pain, back and hip issues that affect your delivery.

  • Re-tests: Follow-up assessments every 4–6 weeks to track your progress and update your program.

What to Expect at Your ArmCare Assessment

Your first visit takes about 45 minutes. Follow-up visits take about 30 minutes.

  1. Baseball and health history: We talk about your position, throwing schedule, velocity, goals and any arm pain or past injuries.

  2. Movement check: Dr. Chris looks at how your shoulders, upper back, hips and core move, since restrictions anywhere in the chain put extra stress on the arm.

  3. ArmCare strength and range of motion testing: You complete the ArmCare tests on both arms with the sensor. No throwing is needed for the test.

  4. Your results: You'll see your Arm Score, strength in each test, side-to-side differences and how your strength compares to your velocity.

  5. Your plan: You'll leave with a personalized arm care program and a recommended schedule for re-tests through your season.

Wear athletic clothes, and bring your current throwing program and recent velocity numbers if you have them. Players under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

ArmCare FAQ

Do I need to throw during the assessment?
No. ArmCare testing uses a strength sensor, not throwing. Just come ready to move.

What age is ArmCare appropriate for?
Players ages 10 and up. Dr. Chris adjusts the program to each player's age, size and training experience.

Will this replace my pitching coach or team program?
No. ArmCare works alongside your coach. We build the strength and mobility your arm needs, so your mechanics and throwing program have a stronger base. We're happy to share your results with your coach.

Do I need my own ArmCare sensor or app?
No. We do the testing in the office with our equipment. If you want to test and train on your own between visits, Dr. Chris can help you get set up with the ArmCare app.

How soon will I see results?
Most players see strength gains within several weeks of consistent training. Your re-tests show exactly how much you've improved.

Do I need to be in pain to come in?
No. Many players come in only to throw harder and stay healthy. If you do have pain, Dr. Chris will evaluate it and treat or refer you as needed.

Does insurance cover ArmCare?
No. ArmCare assessments and re-tests are self-pay and are not billed to insurance.
